HGST’s Frank Chu Receives Great Recognition from JEDEC

Today we are proud to share that Frank Chu, a Technologist here at HGST, has been presented with a JEDEC Outstanding Leadership Award.

Presented by the JEDEC Board of Directors, Frank has been recognized for his numerous individual contributions that expedited the completion of JESD230: NAND Flash Interface Interoperability Standard and for his leadership as chair in focusing and providing direction for the JC46.8 committee on Solid State Drives. In addition, Frank’s award was the only recognition given by the JEDEC Board of Directors to an active and contributing JEDEC member this year.

If you are not familiar with JEDEC, it is a global leader in developing standards for the microelectronics industry and has been a key organization for standardizing interface architectures for DRAM and Flash solid state memories. JEDEC has been developing standards with industry-wide, international acceptance since 1958, with over 3,000 volunteers working together in 50 technical committees, and nearly 300 member companies worldwide that represent a significant percentage of total global system and semiconductor revenue.

Frank has been a part of HGST for over 12 years and is an expert in interface protocol technology, device drivers and storage devices.

John Kelly, JEDEC President, had this to say about Frank: “I am grateful for Mr. Chu’s dedication to the standards development activities carried out by JEDEC committees, and for the support HGST provides for the development of open industry standards within JEDEC.”

Please join us in giving Frank a big congratulation on this great achievement!
