Across the globe, HGST locations will go dark from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., local time, on Saturday, March 28, to observe Earth Hour. Illuminating the impact of energy use on climate change and organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Earth Hour is an international event where millions of people, companies and organizations come together by turning off their lights on the same day at the same hour to show their support of environmental protection.
During Earth Hour, participating HGST world-wide sites―including the United States, China, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand—will darken illuminated signage, as well as turn-off facility non-essential lighting. Employees will also be participating in a multitude of community initiatives from environmental awareness activities to neighborhood cleanups and more. HGST is also sponsoring a city-wide Earth Hour Night Walk event in Penang, Malaysia, in conjunction with the Penang State Local Government and other supporters.
Environmental responsibility is an important cornerstone for HGST and we make sure this permeates our entire business process, including our commitment to build solutions for greener data centers. We ask you to join us in turning off your lights during this weekend’s Earth Hour to show your support for our planet and energy conservation. #YourPower #EarthHour
